From birth, a helpless babe I was
you gave your love and caring
to me
I knew nothing without your guidance
teaching me all that I needed to know
to face this big, bad world
At a young age, you had many a thing in store for me
"A doctor, a lawyer," she'd be, you said
Aspirations to the highest degree
yet you allowed me to see for myself
just what I wanted to be
As I grew older, we may have drifted apart
but my love, caring, and utmost respect
have never flown far away from my heart
A mother like none other, you surely are
sacrificing all for your child to become
all that she can be.
And no matter where I go in life,
I know that I can always come back to my mother
never turning my back from the light of my life
I greet you this Mother's Day
with a kiss and a smile
and recall all these things you have done for me
I thank you, for it all, without reservation
and pray to God for your safekeeping in all things you do
and hope that someday I can repay you
in the most glorious of ways.
