You'd think that feelings would mean something
that they'd have the ability
to change and cultivate
something more meaningful than could ever be experienced.
And not to sound bitter or shallow in this deciding hour
but when you want something bad enough,
you go and get it
regardless
tally up the casualties further down the line
and enjoy the spoils of "war"
I will experience nothing of such deceit
although this fluttering in my heart does not cease
at the sound your voice
it must
if not for my sake than for your own
a scared kitten
I lay beneath your bed, waiting for you to hold me
caress me
to need me
but like the alley cats of old
you must fend for yourself
refraining from lowering your standards
and stooping to the bowels of deception
but nevertheless,
going
getting
doing what must be done
what has always been necessary to accomplish the goal. ..
